Description:

282 pp. Illustrated with 12 color plates and numerous black and white drawings throughout by John R. Neill. 9x6½, light jade green cloth, pictorial cover label; black & white pictorial endpapers. First Edition, Second State Binding.

Second state binding in the light jade green cloth. There was also a binding of bright emerald green cloth; Hanff & Greene notes "although priority is not firmly established, contemporary inscriptions indicate that the light jade-green copies are later." Hanff & Greene XXI, Plate 76.

Condition:

Rubbing and soiling to cloth and cover label (which has a few creases and 3 corners chipped), spine leaning a bit, spine ends worn, minor ink marks on upper front cover edge; hinges cracked, pencil marks and writing on page 15, plate facing p. 102 with a ½" tear on lower margin; about very good.
