i-ii blank], [4] ad pp., [6], 376 pp. Illustrated with 4 wood engraved plates including frontispiece. 6½x4¼, terra-cotta cloth, stamped in gilt, brown-coated endpapers. First American Edition.

First printing with signature mark 1 present; although BAL states no sequence has been established, it does note that the 1892 reprint did not have the mark. Also, first issue with "Nearly Ready" present on fourth page of ads for the title "Pink and White Tyranny." BAL 167.

Condition:

Spine leaning, rubbed at ends and corners; hinges cracked at endpapers, else very good.
