Includes the first printing in original red cloth with the five points indicated in BAL, with: p. 141 heading reads Chapter XVI; "by---! You..." on p. 237, line 23; "the d---d" on p. 238, line 2; "soul" p. 238, line 3; and "by---! Every..." on p. 239, line 6. First state binding with the beginning initials on spine F, Y, and E (in Fifty Years Exile) are ornamented with pendants. Also, the second printing, in original brown cloth, with errors corrected.
