Title-leaf & 33 (of 35) copper-engraved double-page map sheets, many folding out as well, with hand-coloring in outline and wash. 55.5x39 cm. (21¾x15½"), disbound, set loose in modern custom-made folding cloth box.

Exceptionally large and well-engraved series of maps of the world, 24 of the sheets combine in pairs to make single maps, so that there are actually 23 separate maps made up by the 35 sheets; the present set lacks the general map of the British Isles and one of the two sheets that make up Scotland. There is a two-sheet double-hemisphere map of the World, and two-sheet maps of Europe, England and Wales, Ireland, Germany, Asia, East Indies, Africa, the Americas, North American and South America, and single sheet (still quite large, being double-page and often folding out) maps of France, Spaine and Portugal, Scandinavia, the course of the Mississippi, etc. The boards from the original binding, though worn, are present.
