La Page du Pratz was a Dutchman who travelled to Louisiana in 1718 and lived with a woman of the Chetimacha tribe until 1734. "It is from his relation that most of the details of the life of the Natchez and other Mississippi tribes of Indians has been derived." (Sabin). Lewis and Clark took a copy of the English translation of this work with them on their expedition. Sabin 40122; Field 910
