Description:

2 preliminary leaves and 48 stiff printed cards, each with 9 mounted images, text on front and rear. 19.5x11.5 cm (7¾x4½") stub mounted and bound in modern full tan calf.

An extremely rare Portuguese syllabary, each plate with nine printed 'cards' with an engraved illustration on thin tissue, mounted above the text (divided into syllables), the text printed again on the rear of the cards. A very early book of "flash-cards", no copies located by OCLC.

Condition:
Light wear at edges of plates, a few plates with a small amount worm tunneling, mostly in margin but touching text or illustration in a few spots; foxing; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
