Neal Barrett, Jr.'s work has appeared in a number of science fiction magazines, as well as numerous collections such as The Best from Fantasy & Science Fiction, Nebula Awards 24, Dark at Heart, and six times in The World's Best Science Fiction. Reviewers have called his contributions to publications such as OMNI and Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine "stories that defy any category or convention." He was both a Hugo and Nebula finalist, and has received a Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award. His novels include "Stress Pattern," "Through Darkest America," and Dawn's Uncertain Light." He also wrote the novelizations of the films "Judge Dredd" and "Barb Wire." Barrett died in January, 2014, at 84 years of age. The wood engraving was made by George A. Walker, who also hand-printed the whole project on his Vandercook SP15 proof press in the winter of 2012.”
