The first three volumes of a four volume set, of which the last two volumes were issued separately. Comprises:

• Vol. I: Tales. [2], xx, 483 pp. (blank preceding half-title not present, as often occurs). Engraved frontispiece portrait.
• Vol. II: Poems and Miscellanies.
• The Literati: Some Honest Opinions about Autorial Meries and Demerits, with Occasional Words of Personality. Together with Marginalia, Suggestions, and Essays.

Together, 3 volumes 17.5x10.5 (6¾x4¾"), uniform later green buckram, spines lettered in gilt. First Collected Editions, second printings.

The first two volumes were issued together, with the third volume coming out later the same year. A fourth volume, not present here, was subsequently published in 1856.
