2], 79, [1 blank], vi pp. With 3 folding lithographed maps, 1 quite large. (8vo) 22.5x14 cm (8¾x5½"), removed from larger volume, still held together, in modern red cloth clamshell box. First Edition.

Warren was the topographical engineer of the "'Sioux Expedition' under the command of General William S. Harney, [which] was organized in 1855 to chastise the Sioux for the killing of Lt. John L. Grattan and his command of twenty-nine men in the summer of 1853" - Wagner-Camp. The maps are:

  • "Sketch of the Blue Water Creek, embracing the field of action of the force..." (22x14 cm).
  • "Section of Map Compiled in P.R.R. Office with additions designed to illustrate Lt. Warrens Report..." (of the country between Platte & Missouri Rivers, west to Rocky Mountains). (38x48.5 cm).
  • "Reconnaissances in the Dacota Country  by G.K. Warren... made while attached to the Staff of Bvt. Brigr. Genl. Harney, Commander of the Sioux Expedition in 1855" (89.5x143.5 cm).

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
