Lithographed map, printed in color, mounted on wood, dissected for a jigsaw puzzle. With a word map in black & white on the back. 34.5x51 cm (12½x20"), with original chromolithographed two-part box with title "Dissected Map of the United States," 25x19 cm (9¾x7½").

Educational geography puzzle, of which Warren Heckrotte describes: "In original cardboard box, chromolithographed label showing standing Liberty dressed in American flag with Indian girl seated on rock. The large edge pieces interlock. The states are, except for the small eastern states, cut along their border and thus do not interlock. Dakotah and Indian Territories are shown. The date is a guess; it could be a little earlier or 10 years later. The map has much less detail than McLoughlin's dissected map of 1887."
