Signed by Toshiro Mifune in bold black marker, and dated 1983. Lovely pop art poster for a retrospective dedicated to Japanese screen actor Toshiro Mifune (1920-1997), who appeared in person at The Film Center in Chicago in 1983, and signed this poster for the consignor. Mifune appeared in over 150 movies, and was considered the "Clint Eastwood" of Japanese film. He is best known for his collaboration with filmmaker Akira Kurosawa from 1948 to 1965 in works such as Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood and Yojimbo. He also portrayed Musashi Miyamoto in Hiroshi Inagaki’s Samurai Trilogy, as well as Lord Toranaga in the NBC TV miniseries Shogun
