$300 - $500

Aeronautics. Second annual report of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics together with the message of the President of the United States transmitting the report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1916. December 6, 1916. -- Read; referred to the Committee on Naval Affairs and ordered to be printed, with illustrations

Government Printing Office

630 pp. With 12 plates from photographs & schematic drawings; illustrations (mostly schematics of engine parts) in the text. 25.5x17.5 cm (10x7"), modern half cloth & boards, the printed portions of the original front wrapper and the original spine title laid on. Stated Second Edition.

Detailed and surprising scarce report on the state of aviation advances the year before the entry of the United States into the World War. Stated second edition, but perhaps that refers to the fact that it is the second annual report. OCLC/WorldCat lists only two copies, at the Henry Ford Museum and at the Christine and Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Library and Learning Center at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott, Arizona Campus; neither of the refer to a second edition.
