Block book for the Mission and Western Addition districts of San Francisco showing the ownership of properties

San Francisco

[8], 179-257, 442-641 pp. (but lacking pp. 463-4 & 479-80). Block maps throughout, generally 4 to 8 blocks per page; index maps at the beginning. No title page. 33.5x24 cm (13¼x9½"), rebound in modern leather, with the red leather from the original covers laid on front and rear, lettered in gilt "Mission - Western Addition."

Fascinating block book listing the ownership of countless properties in San Francisco's Mission District, and the Western Addition. There are ownership signatures of George P. Lovejoy, apparently a real estate agent of sorts, and within are occasional pencil notations listing ownership changes, prices, etc. The Western Addition extends well beyond its present range, bounded by Larkin in the east, Lewis in the north (level with Fort Mason), 1st Avenue in the west, and Alma/Thirteenth streets in the south.
