Samuel Augustus Mitchell's first atlas. As Warren Heckrotte notes, "This is Mitchell's first atlas and is rare. It uses the plates used in Finley's atlas of 1826, but with additions of towns and roads. Mitchell also published the atlas in a pocket atlas format and the individual maps separately in folders." The maps are: North America; United States; Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont; Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island; New York; Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware; Virginia and Maryland; North and South Carolina and Georgia; Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama; Kentucky and Tennessee; Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Part of Michigan Territory; Missouri and Territory of Arkansas; Florida and Elevation of Mountains (1 page); West Indies(1 page); South America.
