A most interesting account of the journey of the son of the great ornithologist, John James Audubon, to the gold-fields of California during the rush of '49. Audubon traveled as second in command under Col. Webb at the head of a party of nearly 100 members to New Orleans, thence to Brazos, and overland to Saltillo, Parras, Mapimi, Parral and Jesus Maria. They were detained on the Rio Grande for a period by cholera, and a number of their party succumbed to the illness.  Kurutz 22; Wagner-Camp 208; Graff 111; Howes A390.
