A majestic scene of a snow-capped peak beneath a cloud-filled sky, several figures work a farm field at the bottom. Signed and dated by the artist at lower left. Harold ("Harry") Sutton Palmer (1854-1933) was an English watercolor landscape painter and illustrator. Born in Devon, Sutton-Palmer studied at the Royal College of Art and exhibited at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society, Leicester Gallery and elsewhere. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. He was quite successful as an illustrator of the popular travel books published by A. & C. Black as well as for many postcard illustrations.
