(8vo) 21.5x14.5 cm (8½x5¾"), period polished tan calf ruled in gilt, spines tooled in gilt, raised bands, morocco lettering pieces, gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpaper, all edges gilt.; bound by Mansell. First Edition.

Presentation copy inscribed and signed by the author on the front flyleaf of Vol. I: " In remembrance of a most delightful hours chat from the casual (acquaintance) W.A. Bell. 'A happy New Year to you,' Xmas Day, 1869." Graff notes the work "Contains firsthand accounts of Indians in Arizona and New Mexico."  The folding map is "Map of the South-Western Portion of the United States, and of Sonora and Chihuahua. Illustrating the Travels of Dr. W.A. Bell. Compiled by E. G. Ravenstein, F.R.G.S. &c." It measures 32.2x36.5 cm. The map plate shows the harbors of San Francisco, San Diego, and Guaymas. Some rubbing and minor wear to covers; large map with some darkening along folds; very good condition, an attractive copy.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
