[4], 216, 307, [5] pp. With 3 folding copper-engraved maps. (8vo) 20.5x13 cm (8x5"), period quarter calf & marbled boards. Fifth Edition.

Most notable for the four maps the Thomas Kitchin, the most significant of which is a map of British North America following the end of the French and Indian War. The maps are: 

  • An Accurate Map of the Seat of War in the Kingdom of Prussia as also in Bohemia, Lusatia, Silesia, Saxony Westphalia &c. 20x23 cm.
  • A New Map of the Seat of War on the Coast of Malabar & Coromandel, in the Empire of the Great Mogul. 24x22.2 cm.
  • A New Map of the British Dominions in North America; with the Limits of the Governments annexed thereto by the late Treaty of Peace, and settled by Proclamation, October 7th. 1763. 24.3x30 cm.
  • A New and Correct Chart of the Seat of War, on the Coasts of France, Spain, Portugal and Italy; with the adjacent Coasts & Island, in the Ocean and Mediterranean Sea... 24.5x29 cm.

Jolly, Maps in British Periodicals Part II, pp 39-40; 101-102. He does not locate a fifth edition. The description of the maps in the first edition correspond with these in the fifth edition.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
