Title:
Picturesque Palestine, Sinai and Egypt
Author:
Wilson, Charles Wilson
Place:
New York
Publisher:
D. Appleton and Company
Date:
[1881]
Description:

Two volumes. Profusely illustrated with steel and wood-engraved plates throughout, including steel-engraved frontispieces; additional pictorial steel-engraved title pages. (Folio) 32x24 cm (12½x9½"), original full blindstamped brown morocco, lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. First Edition.

Beautiful images bringing the Holy Land to life, as it was in the 19th century. In a departure from the other "Picturesque" titles published by Appleton, the present work uses the work of only two artists, Harry Fenn and J.D. Woodward, rather than the more numerous assortment found in Picturesque America or Picturesque Europe.
