One-page autograph letter on a folding sheet. 18x11.5 cm (7x4½") matted and framed. Overall 31.5x35.5 cm (12½x14"). Accompanied by a sheet of manuscript musical notation in Halevy's hand. Approximately 22.5x26 cm (9x10¼"). In a frame uniform with the letter.

Jacques-François-Fromental-Élie Halévy, usually known as Fromental Halévy (French, 1799–1862), was a French composer. He is remembered today largely for his opera La Juive. A note at the head of the manuscript score is from his 1835 opera comique "L'éclair." The letter is addressed to a Monsieur Altaroche.

Letter creased from mailing and a bit browned, chipped at edge of address leaf, manuscript lightly edge worn and with a short closed tear; very good.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
