3 volumes in 1. xx, 324; vii, 326; vii, 324 pp. Vol. 1 with 3 pp. of sheet music at rear, each volume with title page and engraved frontispiece. (8vo) 18.5x12 cm (7½x5") original  blind-stamped blue cloth with gilt design and spine, gilt edges. First Edition.

From 1840 to 1843 and from 1854 to 1858 Christmas edited the Church of E‚Äčngland Quarterly Review.  From 1854-59 he was a professor of English history and archæology in the Royal Society of Literature (England). Scarce.

Condition:
Wear and fading to binding with rubbing to extremities, corners worn and lightly bumped, small chip at head of spine; hinges cracked, period gift inscription on front free endpaper, overall a bit shaken but solid, interior bright with occasional spots of foxing; very good.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
