12 color plates, 9 head-pieces, 13 tail-pieces, two textual illustrations, and title-page vignette by Arthur Rackham. (4to) original full vellum, lettered and ruled in gilt, gilt vignette on spine, top edge gilt, original slipcase. No. 476 of 775 copies. 

Signed by the illustrator at the limitation statement. Since its first publication in 1653, The "Compleat Angler" has become the third most reprinted book in the English language, next to the Holy Bible, and John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress", comprising 456 different editions up to 1989, and countless foreign language translations. It was inevitable, that Arthur Rackham (1867-1939), the greatest English book illustrator of the 20th century, would account for one of the more notable incarnations of "The Angler." Latimore & Haskell p.66. Laid in is an announcement for Clement Moore's The Night Before Christmas, with Rackham illustrations.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
