Copper-engraved chart with hand-coloring in outline. 39.4x67.4 cm (15½x26½").

Second edition of William Faden's publication of Henry Robert's suppressed chart showing the discoveries and cartography of the third and final voyage of James Cook's explorations of the Pacific. When first published in 1784, the chart showed details of the Alaskan and Northwest coasts and the northern Canadian interior not present on the corresponding chart in the pushed voyage account. The present, very detailed chart, was engraved by W. Palmer. Beneath the title is engraved the following note from the publisher: "The Interesting Discoveries made by British and American ships, since the first Publication of this Chart in 1784, Together with the Hydrographical Materials, lately procured from St. Petersburg and other places, have enabled Mr. De la Rochette to lay down the numerous Improvements which appear in the Present Edition. Charing Cross January 1st 1794. W. Faden." These include the Northwest Georgia of George Colnett in 1793 and the supposed track of the Washington around Vancouver's Island. Wagner, N.W. Coast, 830.
