Translated and with history by John Stevenson Bushnan. 159 pp. 26 plates at rear with blank interleaves. (8vo) 22.5x14 cm (9x5½") modern half calf and marbled boards, spine ruled and lettered in gilt. First English Edition.

Dieffenbach was a pioneer in rhinoplasty and plastic surgery. With the exception perhaps of Carpue's 1816 'Account of Two Successful Operations for Restoring a Lost Nose' this volume is the rarest of work in English on the subject. Translated by Bushnan while he was a student in Heidelberg. Garrison-Morton-Norman 5743 (note).
