viii, 660 pp. Engraved folding map and 15 plates (1 folding). (8vo) 21x13 cm (8¼x5¼") early diced calf with later gilt calf rebacking, morocco labels. Fifth Edition.

Horace Walpole, in letters to William Cole, sneers at Pennant as a smatterer in history and antiquities who ‘picks up his knowledge as he rides.’ Walpole found him ‘full of corporal spirits, too lively and impetuous,’ though ‘a very honest, good-natured man.’ (DNB).

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
