2 volumes. xx, 596; [2], xi, [1], (3)-556 pp. Additional engraved title page and two frontispiece portraits in Volume 1, three additional engraved plates; 12 two-page maps, hand-colored in outline and with engraved vignettes; numerous other woodcut illustrations in text. (4to) 28x19 cm (11x7½") original blindstamped blue cloth, gilt vignettes on covers, spines lettered and decorated in gilt. Rebacked with original spine cloth laid down.

A handsome mid-century reprinting of the narrative of Cook's three voyages, attractively illustrated, plates include the death of Capt. Cook and the plates comprise: The World on Mercator's Projection Shewing the Voyages of Captain Cook; Polynesia; New South Wales; Victoria or Port Phillip; Van Diemen's Land; Malay Archipelago; Islands in the Indian Ocean; New Zealand; South Australia; The Cape Colony; Falkland Islands and Patagonia; Australia.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
