Four volumes. Each with frontispiece and numerous engraved plates. (4to), each volume bound in gilt-decorated blindstamped cloth, all edges gilt.

A collection of handsomely bound, illustrated books in French from the 19th century. Includes illustrated tales for girls, A Winter in Paris, Summer Under the Lime Trees, and The Women of Shakespeare.

Includes:

  • Champagnac, Jean-Baptiste Joseph. L'Eté sous les tilleuls ou Les Causeries du Châlet. With numerous plates, text vignettes, head and tail pieces. Paris: P.-C. Lehuby, 1846. 
  • Janin, M. Jules. Un Hiver à Paris. With text illustrations and 18 plates. Paris: Madame Vve Louis Janet, libraire-éditeur, s-d vers, 1843.
  • O'Sullivan, D., introduction. Varying degrees of general light wear to bindings, with some rubbing, soiling, etc.; interiors sound with some toning and offsetting, a few volumes with moderate to heavy foxing; all volumes very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
