xxvi, 276 pp. Profusely illustrated from photographs, drawings, paintings, etc.; 3 color plates and 2 photogravures. (4to) 12¼x9¾", original full red pebbled calf, gilt-tooled pictorial lion emblem lettered "Far & Sure" on front cover, lettered in gilt, all edges gilt. Number 231 of 900 copies. First (Subscriber's) Edition.

Tipped to the front free endpaper is a letter from co-author Harold H. Hilton to A,W, Tillinghast on Ashford Manor Golf Club stationery. The writing is quite difficult to decipher, please see photograph in our on-line catalog. First "Subscribers' Edition" this copy subscribed by H.W. Brettell. Contains a listing of golf books published to 1912. "This is one of the most magnificent books in the entire library of golf, comprehensive in content, very handsome in appearance and attractively illustrated" - Murdoch 348; D&M 21090; D&J H17860. Provenance: From the library of Albert W. Tillinghast via the collection of Theodore Prussing LeVino. Tillinghast's handwritten inventory card laid in.
