Highlights include a large paper copy of American Mercury, the Nonesuch Press Butleriana, and four copies of Hayden Carruth's Almanach du Printemps Vivarois.

Comprises:

  • The American Mercury. H.L. Mencken, et al. Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1924. (4to)  half-vellum, with decorative paper-covered boards. No.159 of 200 large-paper copies of the first issue. (Rubbing and edgewear; mild toning; many pages unopened; near fine).
  • Butleriana. The Nonesuch Press, Bloomsbury, 1932. (8vo) calf-backed decorative paper-covered boards, top edge speckled red. No. 300 of 800 copies printed.
  • GPH: An Informal Record of George P. Hammond and his Era in the Bancroft Library. The Friends of the Bancroft Library, Berkeley, 1965. Printed by Lawton Kennedy. Cloth. Many pages unopened.
  • The First Winter of My Married Life by William H. Gass. Lord John Press, Northridge, 1979. Cloth-backed boards. No. 85 of 275 copies signed by the author.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
