California Architect and Building News. A Monthly Journal, Devoted to Architecture, Decorating and Furnishing . . . Vol VII, Number 1-12

San Francisco

San Francisco Architectural Publishing Co.

January - December 1886

Illustrated throughout with line drawings; numerous advertisement in each issue for local building contractors and suppliers. Large 4to, 12 issues bound in contemporary black quarter calf, black cloth sides, gilt lettering. First Edition.

A periodical that began in 1879 and ceased publication around 1900.  A handsome monthly periodical published for architects and builders in San Francisco. It was originally a privately published journal, but apparently from 1887 on it appears to have been the official journal of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.  In the final three issues in this volume, the publishers announce that they are seeking buyers. Rare. OCLC reports mostly broken runs and odd volumes, with two locations for complete (1879-1900) copies: Stanford and University of Pennsylvania.
