Reminiscences of Golf on St. Andrews Links

Balfour, James

David Douglas

[6], 68 + [2 ad] pp. 16.5x10.5 cm (6½x4¼"), original printed red wrappers. First Edition.

The Balfours were a well-known golfing family, the most skillful of whom was James' son, Leslie Balfour-Melville, who won the British Amateur in 1895. The book relates tales of the Old Course during a time when there were relatively few golfers and is of great interest because it gives one of the few first-hand accounts of how the course was played in those early days. "One of the rarest of all golf items" - Murdoch 30.
