[66], clxviii columns, [2] pp., 696 columns; [2] pp, 697-1526 columns, [177] pp. With frontispiece portrait, 50 double-page maps of the English counties, Ireland, Scotland, and 'the Islands'; six of the maps are folding. There are also twelve large full-page engravings, and numerous smaller engravings in the text. With a comprehensive index and errata page. Title page printed in red and black. (Folio) 40x24 cm (15¾x9½"), period boards rebacked with newer calf with raised spine bands, red morocco spine labels lettered in gilt. Stated Second Edition.

Camden's history of Great Britain, with 50 double-page maps by William Morden. First issued in the 1695 edition of Britannia, the maps in the present edition are printed on thicker hand-made paper. With the illustrated bookplates of Oraville Jane Tuttle (one detached and laid in).

Deterioration to mottling of boards, rubbing to extremities, small areas of wormholing to spine of volume 2; offsetting to endpapers from bookplates, interiors sound with occasional light faint foxing, maps with occasional minor wear or creasing at edges, a solid set; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
