Original albumen and silver photographs. Most approx. 11x16.5 cm (4½x6½"), glued to black leaves of an album. Most captioned in white ink below the images, a few with additional ink notations on the images. Album measures 14.8x21 cm (5¾x8¼"), flexible cloth.

Marvelous gathering of original photographs of locomotives and trains, compiled by Lou Ledger, who worked 56 years for the Santa Fe Railroad before retiring as an engineer at age 75. He recorded all the locomotives he drove and saw, giving their weight, class, engine numbers, and more, Included as a bonus are two images of a wreck that took place at Kingman, Arizona. A newsclipping about Ledger at his retirement is laid in.

Some insect damage and other wear to covers; a few images with minor discoloration of fading, several leaves detached; overall very good.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
