15 volumes. 61 mounted photogravure illustrations on India paper, and an additional illuminated title page. Several of the illustrations signed by the artist in pencil including Dan Beard, Alice Barber Stephens, Peter Newell, etc. (8vo), original rust colored cloth with paper spine labels, top edges gilt. No. 59 of 612 sets of the Autograph Edition.

Signed By editor Thomas R. Lounsbury, at the limitation of Volume 1, and with original manuscript page bound in at the front of Volume 1, as issued. Best known today perhaps as the collaborator with Mark Twain on the pointed American political satire "The Gilded Age", Warner was a popular essayist, novelist, and travel writer who in his capacity as owner and editor of the Hartford Courier and later Harper's New Monthly Magazine, became one of the most important literary tastemakers in late 19th century America.

Lot Amendments

Light wear to bindings with some rubbing to extremities, darkening to spine labels with some loss to label of vol. X, vol. I hinge starting, in all, a solid set; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
