Telegram from Lenny Bruce to Jack Sobel, about business matters, calling Hugh Hefner a mentally ill compulsive liar

Bruce, Lenny

Hollywood, CA

July 25 [c.1961-2]

Four telegram sheets. Each 15.5x21 cm (6¼x8¼").

Bruce telegraphs his agent and manager Jack Sobel about trouble with payment from Hugh Hefner, "When I suspected Hugh Hefner was lying you told me no worry when Paul Krasner told Hefner ‘everything they said is true. 2500 is yours.’  Then I didn’t get the 2500. ...I definitely want to know … how you can deny Hugh Hefner is a liar... Whatever you do don’t call him a liar. Just fight business style to get me a bigger paperback percentage and let him know 'n a cute way that the considerable advance to Krassner 'covered the room and board’…"
