Two typed & signed letters from Nick Louard to Lenny Bruce, plus two handwritten drafts by Bruce of responses, one with a typed retained carbon.

Comprises:

  • Louard-Bruce -1 Sept 62: “All well here. Fagots [sic], jews, fascists, negros, Europeans, and other friends of Peter Cook flock in nightly.  Your name has become something of a legend since you left -- Tynan and other critics use it as a term of refernce [sic] in their articles: i.e. “This actors genitals bear little comparison with those of Mr. Bruce.” 
  • Louard-Bruce 28 Sept 1962. “Baby, I just cannot bargain over this.  A six week season… I’m offering 2-1/2 times what you got before.”  On the reverse side are Bruce’s holographic notes for a response and a note to his agent Jack Sobel. “Would you say it was a mistake in management to let me play for such ridiculous money… [With a few obscure name checks to Charles Chaplin, Lillian Roth, Edward G. Robinson, and “Barrymore’s daughter.]”
  • Bruce-Louard -11-1-62 "…please send me a brochure on the biggest jaguar convertible….i want the BIGGEST AND BEST convertible there is.  also, please post-haste the ‘fat’ pill i asked you for last month.  i really want those pills so please be a dear friend send them immediately! Love." The brief typed note [“3”x5”] is an unsigned file copy, but is attached to Bruce’s holographic draft written in pencil on the back of an envelope.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
