[10], 244, 59, [1]; [6],  267, [1], 32 pp. Each part with copper-engraved frontispiece; Fables with 78 (of 81) copper-engraved plates; Aesopics with 64 copper-engraved plates. (8vo) 17.7x12 cm (7x4½"), period calf, spine tooled iin gilt, recased with repairs to spine and joints. Stated Third Edition.

The rare first octavo edition of Ogilby's Aesop, handsomely printed and extensively illustrated. This copy lacking pages 181 through 188, and the three plates that accompanied the missing fables. OCLC/WorldCat locates only four copies of the Fables, and only one of those, at Western University in Canada, is bound with the Aesopics.

Lot Amendments

Some minor foxing and aging within, light staining to gutter margin of the Aesopics intruding into text; lacking 4 leaves as noted; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
