Schlick, Moritz

A significant philosophical letter to Albert Einstein, wherein Schlick addresses topics relating to modern physics, including causality and general relativity. In the same year as this letter (1920), Schlick published a major work in discussing the philosophical implications of relativity and the new physics - “Space and Time in Contemporary Physics” - which brought him to international fame. The most important philosopher of science in the 20th century, Schlick founded The Vienna Circle, a group of major intellectuals (including Wittgenstein) exploring and developing the scientific philosophy of logical positivism. Einstein and Schlick carried out an ongoing correspondence for more than 20 years. Schlick letters of such content are extremely rare in commerce.
