[26] leaves. 25 leaves of original ink caricature drawings and sketches. 23x30.5 cm (9x12"), spiral-bound boards.

Signed by the artist on the first leaf; artist's return address label on inside cover. Sketches of wartime life in Los Angeles, 1942 include the artist's interpretation of an air raid, sporting events from rugby to lawn bowling, caricatures of General Douglas McArthur and Winston Churchill, and views of the modern woman: "Women in Pants - March 30-'42 / LA / Monday" and "Easter Bonnets: Wilshire + Harvard / Sunday April 5, '42". Lewis Carleton Ryan was an illustrator, block printer and writer whose illustrations were published in 1920's and 30's magazines and newspapers such as The Saturday Evening Post, McCalls, Ladies Home Journal, Westways, and the Los Angeles Times.

Light soiling and scuffs to boards, slight bumps at corners; small abrasion to inside cover, leaves toned a bit, occasional offsetting; very good or better.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
