ix, [1], 203 + 16 ad pp. With 15 mounted albumen photographs by Ernest Edwards. (small 4to) 21.5x16.5 cm (8½x6½"), original green cloth lettered in gilt, with gilt-stamped borders and shield on cover, all edges gilt. First Edition. 

Ernest Edwards was a distinguished English photographer and inventor of the Heliotype (collotype) process, who moved to Boston from London in 1872 to become manager of the Heliotype Printing Company. The author notes "...if, like Moses, my speech be weak and flammering, I am assisted by a coadjutor whose camera is almost as great a worker of wonders as was Aaron's rod."

Lot Amendments

Small tear to cloth at head of spine, some rubbing at spine ends, edges and corners; hinges cracked or starting, frontispiece loose, binding cracked internally; photographs very good; overall about very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
