Broadside issued by the Comptroller's Office in the California capital of Vallejo, sent to various county auditors, regarding forms being sent with which to report tax revenue

Single sheet, printed on one side only. 27.5x21.3 (10¾x8½").

Rare Benicia imprint, from the short period when neighboring Vallejo served as the capital of California. The form is filled out to address the auditor of Santa Cruz County, and is signed by Wm. Melvin Smith, Chief Clerk, with his proxy signature for John S. Houston, Comp. of State, who was the first to hold the office of Controller of California, with an added notation, "Please acknowledge receipt." The broadside begins, "Sir: - I have the honor to transmit herewith, Blank Forms, to be observed by you in making out the Duplicate of all Taxes assessed in your County for the present year, for the purpose of being delivered to your Treasurer and Sheriff..." On the back are a few notations and numerical calculations. No copies are listed in OCLC/WorldCat.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
