Description:

162 pp. Illustrated profusely with 10 mounted color plus over 600 B&W photographs of ceramic art as well as diagrams of all the exhibit items at rear. 31.5x25.3 cm (12½x10"), dark purple cloth, lettering on spine stamped in gilt, top edge gilt, in cloth and paper clamshell case. Number 199 of 500.

A showcase of a collection of Mikkyō ceramics & "teaching tools" at the Nara National Museum which is one of the pre-eminent national art museums in Japan.  Mikkyō is a Japanese term for the Vajrayana practices of Shingon Buddhism and the related practices that make up part of the Tendai and Kegon schools. There are also Shingon and Tendai influenced practices of Shugendō.

Wear to corners of clamshell case, rear joint cracked, front top and bottom rear corners split having been previously stapled; hints of wear to cloth, else fine in about very good clamshell case.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
