BAL variant 'B' with no advertisements in front matter; terminal ads dated December, 1860; in the 'Emerson's Writings' binding variant (no priority). BAL 5231. Bookplate of Henry W. Johnson's Private Library on verso of front free endpaper, his unobtrusive rubberstamp on its recto.

Condition:

Rubbing and some staining to covers, ends and corners worn; some ink stains to fore-edges; overall very good.
