Description:

Lithographed map. 48x47 cm. (19x18½").

Published in Travels over the Table Lands and Cordilleras of Mexico during the Years 1843 and 44. Gilliam was appointed U.S. Consul in San Francisco, but seems to have gotten no closer to that city than his stay in Mexico. Wheat comments that Gilliam's proposed "railroad routes run straight, oblivious of mountains or river courses..." Wheat Transmississippi 510.

Condition:

A few short tears neatly repaired on verso; very good.
