2 volumes. 507; 629 ad pp. Illustrated with steel-engraved plates of portraits and battle scenes; plus numerous maps and battle plans within the text (many are full-page). (Large 8vo), rebound in black half morocco and cloth, spines gilt, top edges gilt.

A history of the War Between the States, with a strong Union perspective. Steel-engraved plates from original designs by Darley and other eminent artists and portraits of distinguished men.

Condition:

Spines sunned, some discoloration to cloth (reaction to binder's glue?); very good.
